WWE For Sale
Is it worth it?
WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world. It has produced countless amount of entertainment for decades, from Pay-Per-Views to movies to insane amount of merchandise. Anything you could think of they have found a way to sell it.
So, why is WWE up for sale?
Well, we’ve all heard the rumors for a couple of months now that WWE will be going up for sale shortly. With the return of Vince McMahon and himm joining the board of directors. He’s been very persistent about selling the company and clearly he wants to be around for the negotiations.
Adding more to the speculation, WWE hired JPMorgan to help with the potential sell. They have been taking advise from them and clearly they’ve been taking notes on how will whole ordeal will work if it happens. What made this rumor even more real is the fact that BOTH parties denied giving any sort of answers to the media.
Whether the company does sell or not, it won’t be a “right now” type of thing. It will probably take half the year or even the entire year to actually get everything done. Just like how long it took for Warner Bros to merge with Discovery.
There’s always been talks about WWE being sold but there was never actual concrete proof of it even getting out of the office door. Now, it seems a bit too real. The possibilities seem to grow larger with each passing day.
Is WWE A Valuable Asset?
In todays age, content is the king of all things. With the numerous streaming services already here. Every streaming service or TV provider has that “it” show. The show that makes you want to either tune in to the channel or simply subscribe to their service.
WWE has a DEEP library of content for wrestling fans. They’ve produced endless amount of hours of entertainment. So, there’s always something to watch here. You can replay past Pay-Per-Views or watch their new shows or documentaries.
Peacock paid billions of dollars to attain the WWE Network while NBC and Fox paid billions to air Raw and Smackdown respectfully.
The WWE also has a selection of IP they monetized for merchandise sell, clothing, video games, music, collectable items, etc. They really do hustle when it comes to ways to make new revenue.
What could be in their future?
Maybe AR wrestling? Being able to watch LIVE shows through a headset and make it seem and feel like you’re there.
The Risks Of Buying WWE
The major question that lingers in both the buyers and the audience. What will be affected if someone outside the wrestling world buys WWE?
Will WWE maintain its popularity and will it be profitable?
An outside company that doesn’t really know much about the wrestling world taking on the role is a real big gamble. They will have to adjust to just how things work. They will surely be out of their comfortable zone, but they’ll be looking at the potential profits instead of their nerves.
Can these companies handle such a product? Will these head-honchos be as creative as the ones we have now? So many questions, so little time it feels.
What would kill everything would be the fact that like I mentioned all of these companies would be out of their comfort zone and they might twist things around in WWE. Maybe take out some things and add some “adjustments” to the product that will apparently appeal to the massess.
I hope they won’t book WWE like some side-show slump.
New Owner
The new owners will have to deal with a slew of WWE employees that they haven’t even thought of. To them, maybe they just see the corporate people and the wrestlers as just that. Little to they know there’s countless of backstage roles that need to be addressed.
Would they consider them as independent contractors? people who can come and go when they’re summoned. That would be an insult to them. From the costume designers to catering, everyone has an important role in WWE and no one should be overlooked. They are the reason we’re able to get such a smooth show rolling every Monday and Friday and Sundays when there’s a Pay-Per-View.
Final Thoughts
As scary as it may feel right now. We’re in a time where anything can happen. We’re not so sure if it will be sold or not.
I as a wrestling fan just hope that the product will be treated with respect and honor that it deserves.
There’s even a chance that it won’t even sell right now.
