And he’s name is…Austin Theory

WWE has created some of the most memorable personas in pop culture. From the likes of The Rock to Stone Cold Steve Austin to John Cena. Whether you are a wrestling fan or not, you know these names. Their slogans have been said for decades and we all enjoy the charisma they bring.

There’s always been a sort of “formula” when you’re a top WWE star. You start off as a mid-card wrestler, not knowing where your future lies. Then they take a chance on you and you become the face of the company. You become WWE Champion a number of times and then there’s something missing. You’ve done it all in the business and now where do you go? Of course you go to Hollywood and start your movie career.

The Rock proved that it could be done. John Cena is the latest one to do so.

Now, is WWE on verge of creating their next huge star? Seems likely. Theory has been on a hot streak ever since Vince McMahon tapped him on the shoulder.

WWE is creating their next John Cena and there’s too many similarities here.

Theory was United States Champion, as was John Cena. Theory is a Money In The Bank winner, So was John Cena.

John Cena had a troubled start in WWE. He had nothing going for him. Same thing with Theory when he debuted. He just looked like a young wrestler who had no direction and was just used as enhancement talent for the bigger stars.

Theory has proven himself to be quite the shit-talker in WWE. I find his promos to be pretty damn entertaining and he knows how to get a reaction from the crowd.

He oozes out confidence and charisma. Maybe to some he doesn’t look like a WWE Champion, I get that. But to me, he seems destined to be champion and lead the company to the new era. He could easily be this era’s John Cena.

Vince McMahon’s Touch

Like I mentioned, Vince has been on a all time high with Theory. He just sees something in him that maybe the rest of the locker room doesn’t.

Vince has always had an act for creating superstars. From The Undertaker to DX, he knows when something will work (most of the times). Theory being his latest project, it seems that Vince is trying all his best to give Theory all the resources in the world to make him as big as a superstar as he can.

Vince probably sees a bit of John Cena in him.

There’s no telling how far Vince will go with him, as we all know that he likes to switch things up in a heartbeat. But, right now it’s looking good for Theory as Theory now holds the Money In The Bank and will soon be cashing it in.

No Gimmick

If Theory’s going to be the next big thing. Does he need a gimmick? Something to differ himself from the rest of the herd? I’d say no.

Theory in context has no real gimmick I think. He’s just a guy who comes out and annoys us with his ignorance and gets by, by being the bosses favorite toy. It’s working for him and I don’t think they need to change that.

Maybe all he needs to do is make up his own catchphrases.

He doesn’t need to be larger than life. He doesn’t need to be the strongest. All he needs to be is smart and slick. He needs to continue to be one step ahead of his opponents and out smart them. That’s his own gimmick right there.

Building A Babyface

Is Vince urgently trying to create the biggest babyface that they’ve had in a while? That seems a bit too far fetch right now as Theory is a complete heel right now. There’s is no signs of him turning babyface.

Not to mention that with Cody Rhoades coming back to WWE, he’s suppose to be the new big babyface but his 37 years old and is already talking about retiring in a few years. So, it’s obvious that they need someone young and with more life ahead of them to carry the company on their shoulders.

They brought back Drew McIntyre and gave him a great babyface push. But his push happened during the height of the Covid pandemic and WWE wasn’t able to show off his babyface run to the masses as it was intended.

Theory will have to carry the company on his back for the next 10 years at least.

I think he has potential to do it.

Theory Has The Looks

For what it’s worth, Theory has the total package. He’s young, good looking, charismatic, good body. He can do wonders on the microphone. He can wrestle his ass off when given the chance. He has shown that he can hang with the top dogs.

He can obviously improve his in-ring abilities through time and he can connect more with the fans if he turns babyface. The biggest part would be if he could work with numerous of wrestlers with different styles to the point that it looks organic in the ring.

So far he isn’t injury prone, so he has that going for him. One of the biggest questions are if the allegations against him during the “speaking out” movement could come back to light and jeopardize his championship run.

John Cena and Austin Theory

The comparison between the two cannot be denied. Both stand at 6'1. They both look to have the same upbringing in WWE. They’ve won the same championship and Money In The Bank.

They both have the same attitude and charisma.

When Cena was a heel with his Thuganomics gimmick, He was obnoxious and in your face, the same way Theory is with his promos right now. Theory has become that heel that is irresistible to the fans.

There’s no doubt that Theory is in for a long run in WWE. He’s going to climb the ladder quicker than others and he’s going to be our Universal Champion.

Hell, I bet he will become champion at Summerslam when he cashes in his Money In The Bank contract.
