Will WWE Continue To Fail Us?

WWE has been a behemoth of a company for decades. It has created numerous superstars in its days. From The Rock To John Cena. WWE has always had a clear vision on who was going to represent the company.

WWE has overcome gigantic obstacles to get to where it is today. They beat WCW in the 90’s, a time where everyone thought that WWE was going to close their doors because WCW was on an all time high. They’ve battled in court or should I say Vince McMahon battled in court for the sake of the company. Every time when you thought something was going to bring WWE down, it was somehow saved and another door opened.

As everyone knows WWE is the place to be if you’re a professional wrestler. Every indie wrestler dreams about one day stepping into a WWE ring and showing the masses what they are capable off. It’s a life achievement that I feel they all have.

Now, with that out of the way. We can fast forward to 2009 when the whole PG Era began. Vince McMahon wanted to change the entire scope of the company and make it more accessible to the younger viewers. They got rid of the violence, the blood, the random bikini contests they would have, the foul language. They did a complete 180.

That U-turn they made has been hurting them for a decade now. They’ve been struggling to book good matches. The writing has been terrible. Sometimes they do have an storyline that is working but for some reason they completely turn it around and make it bad or they just cancel it all together.

Sometimes I feel like they are trying to reinvent themselves. They start a real good storyline with two wrestlers. They keep it going for a month or so. The fans seem to be really into it. They get a reaction. But then the following week it’s nowhere to be seen? It’s something that is starting to irritate me about WWE.

It’s clear that most WWE fan have really tuned out of the product. They’re bored of it, they don’t see any progression.

Raw is three hours now. By hour two…often of times they just lose touch with what’s happening. It’s like they just rush to get quick segments out to just buy time and get them to the next match.

The segments have been bland.

What is another major problem with them today is the fact that they are doing TOO MANY rematches weekly. I get it if here and there the matches do happen. But every week? Are they running out of ideas that quickly?

I’ve been a fan since 1998. I’m rooting that they are going to get their minds straight and actually start putting out something we want to see. A little fan service wouldn’t hurt them at this point.

Recently, they’ve released a number of superstars that has the wrestling world shook.

The Fiend, being one of their best creations in decades, was just released for no apparent reason. Bray Wyatt is GOLD. This man knew how to talk and how to get a reaction out of the fans. Even worse is that there was way more that The Fiend could’ve done. Now, we will never know.

Braun Strowman being another major name released that made my jaw drop. He got released because he was getting paid $1 million per year? Yet…Adam Cole who is on NXT just got a contract extension that is worth $1 million? So, what’s the difference here? Obviously, Adam Cole does deserve that contract. He is an outstanding performer.

I wanna say that the major flaw in WWE today is Vince McMahon himself.

Vince is convinced that AEW is no competition to WWE. In some cases that may be true, as WWE is more global than AEW (for now).

AEW in the other hand is giving us wrestling fans the exact thing we want to see. ACTION. AEW has the action, the blood, the chair hitting, the crazy stunts, the heart breaking storylines. What’s more intriguing is the fact that each wrestler has the opportunity to advance their character on their terms. It’s not some office person who comes up with an idea that thinks will work.

The way I see it. WWE is on thin ice with fans. It just feels like WWE has about five years before everyone just taps out. I won’t stop watching it at all though. I’m still hopefully that someday someone in a suit will talk to Vince and say it straight to him that everything he is doing isn’t working anymore.

It would be the biggest heart brake to me to see one of the most successful companies in the world just crumble down before my eyes.
