Will the story ever end?

Roman Reigns Vs Cody Rhodes has to be one of the biggest matches in recent WWE history. The hype surrounding this main event was out of this world. The world revolved around this match, and to be honest it was really the selling point of the entire show.

Cody has been extremely over with the fans. His merch has been selling out and doing bigger numbers than legendary wrestlers. He won the Royal Rumble in his epic return. Cody being on a house show card actually sold 9,000 tickets, which is unheard of for a house show. Cody’s rise to fame can only go to space at this point.

So, with everything good on Cody’s side? Why would WWE decided to make Cody lose?…to make him a bigger underdog? To continue this long-term storytelling of the tribal chief? Or maybe with Vince back in creative, he doesn’t see the potential in Cody that we see.

Can WWE create an even BIGGER moment after this?

Here we will look at why Roman Reigns won.

1. Roman Reigns was never gonna lose

Whether Roman was going to wrestle The Rock, Cody Rhodes, or anyone else, the WWE was sure not to make Roman lose at Wrestlemania.

WWE is a business. Roman Reigns is their bread right now. They’ve invested so much into this man and booking hours. They want to protect their investment in every possible way. Showing Roman lose means that he is a “man”, meaning that even immovable objects can seize one day.

The hype for Wrestlemania just made Cody seem like a god. We the fans made him into the martyr who can finally defeat Roman.

With many Premium Live Events still to come. There’s always ways for Roman to drop the title to someone or to even Cody. They would squeeze out every ounce of drama and sweat out of Roman.

2. 1,000 As Champion

WWE isn’t done booking Roman Reigns as the top star.

His milestone is soon coming. He will reach 1,000 days as champion in the months to come and it’s an outstanding accomplishment. Especially in this day in age of wrestling.

It’s obvious they want him to reach this milestone.

It’s a record that will NEVER be shattered and it will add another honor into Roman Reign’s career.

3. Merchandise = Payday

How does WWE make more money other than ticket sells? Merchandise of course. The amount they make out of selling shirts, belts, hoodies, etc, probably adds to more than ticket sells themselves.

Let’s be honest, WWE is already preparing to release a “1,000” day champion shirt, which will sell like hot cakes. Even some sort of collectables will be sold.

4. Keeping Recent Buyer Happy

WWE has been trying to find a buyer for some time now. It’s been circling the news that WWE has been in close talks with networks about a potential buy.

That day came when Endeavor Entertainment purchased WWE for $9.3 billion dollars.

With that being said, Endeavor probably loves the fact that Roman Reigns has been champion for this long. This is their money maker still. In a business perspective, the dollar signs are ringing. They don’t wanna lose the momentum the WWE already had.

With the plans of Roman retaining even before the deal went through, WWE thought it would be a smart and safe bet to keep the belt on Roman just to make the buyer happy.

5. WWE Doesn’t Want To Rock The Boat

WWE has been doing record business with Roman. They’re raking in billions of dollars in revenue. Oddly enough, as much as people are bored with him being champion, people still go see him and see what’s coming next for him.

There’s always the question of is Roman actually the reason why they’re making so much profit.

Why ruin something good?

6. Cody Is Our Savior

Cody is a white-hot babyface. WWE hasn’t had someone like this in years, it almost feels like it’s a once in a lifetime chance to see this happen now.

The WWE knows that the universal won’t give up on him this easy. This is all a build up. They want to make him even MORE over than he already is. Like I mentioned, Cody is our god right now in WWE. He has Roman’s number.

There’s always room for his character to grow and become even bigger.

With him losing on the biggest night in sports entertainment, this could increase Cody’s popularity more. He will have this chip on his shoulder and will always look back on that night.

He will remind us that he’s on a mission to stop the tribal chief.

7. Chasing The Gold

At Wrestlemania, us as fans expect to go home feeling happy and feel like spending $1000+ on tickets was worth it. This main event was suppose to that Hollywood ending that would make us cry more than Titanic did.

That wasn’t the case.

Extra drama is always good.

They can have Cody start questioning himself. Maybe he’s not as strong mentally and physically as he thought. He fought his way back to the top and it was for nothing. This kind of “down on his luck” storytelling it KEY for long-term stories.

The hero can’t always be all mighty every week.

Don’t be shocked when they book the rematch at their next Premium Live Event and we get the ending we all crave.

8. The Rematch

It’s inevitable that we’re getting a rematch soon. It’s the talk of the town and they will tease us a bit before they announce it. Summerslam seems like the right place to do it.

This isn’t going to be your ordinary rematch. This will have higher stakes.

There’s so many stipulation ones can name for this match. Maybe Cody will put his career on line or vice-versa. Roman won’t be able to have Solo or Heyman on his side, or even the Bloodline.

Maybe a Hell In A Cell match.

Whatever they choose to do. It will have a “win or die” mentality.

9. Tricking Us

Cody won the Royal Rumble. He’s the hero. He came back from a serious injury and was destined to win the belt at Wrestlemania. It was the perfect story. The story played out by the books.

It was too obvious and they knew it.

WWE surely swerved the fans with Roman winning.

Cody had everything going for him. He even ended Solo Sikoa’s undefeated streak on Raw. Everything was just aligning for him. He was confident that he could capitalize on the internal affairs that was happening in The Bloodline.

Not to mention The Usos dropped the belt to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn on Night 1 of Wrestlemania.

We shouldn’t feel cheated. This was the twist in the story. The moment in the movie where you just throw your drink down because your hero died or the bad guy outsmarted him.

This making WWE unpredicable.

10. Building up T.V Ratings

Raw after Wrestlemani is suppose to be one of the biggest nights in WWE. We expect returns or NXT wrestlers to make their main-brand debuts. That didn’t happen and it was one of the worst Raw’s period.

But, we still want to see how things will play out.

We’re going to get small snippets of where they head next.

Whether the product is bad or good. WWE has their loyal fans that will tune in weekly to Raw and Smackdown and the ratings will start to go up again. Especially if they play their cards right with Roman and Cody.

For what it’s worth, Roman Reigns is the heel we love to cheer.
