Long-term storytelling at its best!

The Bloodline has been dominating the WWE world for almost 3 years. Roman Reigns came back from his absence and won the Universal Championship at Payback and then won the World and won the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 38.

Before that he had quite the family-affair with The Usos, where the brothers wanted to prove to Roman that they didn’t need him. Jey went against Roman inside a Hell In A Cell and ended in no-contest.

Through the cracks, The Usos and Roman reformed their family bond and joined forces, not yet called The Bloodline, but that was the beginning. The shocker of the whole thing is the fact that Paul Heyman is actually being very loyal to his Tribal Chief.

They’ve been able to captivate us into their world. As much as we do see them on a weekly basis, somehow we’re still engulfed in their antics. We want to see what’s next, is there gonna be more problems, etc.

The storyline continued with addition of Sami Zayn joining them. Despite the fact that The Usos didn’t like Sami and never trusted him, they went with it as their Tribal Chief was assured that Sami is the one. They did a ridiculous amount of tests for Sami to prove himself. Sami passed them all and became an honorary Ucey. This has been Sami’s best work. Not to mention that Sami has been able to make The Uso’s and Roman break character on live tv.

Then came Royal Rumble 2023 and that’s where the tables turned. Roman went up against Kevin Owens. This was for sure part of Roman’s plan, as he wanted to see just how loyal Sami can be to The Bloodline. You could see the hesitation on Sami’s face from the start. Kevin was his best friend.

Let’s see a few more key points on why The Bloodline storytelling is so great

Great Timing

It almost feels like a decade ago where WWE was pushing Roman Reign’s as the top babyface of the company. They were trying to make us cheer for him and it just wasn’t working out. Roman was slowly becoming too repetitive and honestly his work just wasn’t all there.

WWE soon gave in to public demand and officially turned Roman into a heel. This is the best decision they’ve made. Roman was able to really be the best he can be. He took on this “final boss” character and transformed the landscape of WWE today.

Just when you thought The Bloodline were done adding members. We got the surprise of Solo Sikoa coming into the main roster and catapulted himself to be their bodyguard, per say. Solo has made a huge impact on the Bloodline.

Honestly, can you imagine WWE without The Bloodline now?

Twist & Turns

As mentioned, Sami Zayn took the high ground when he betrayed Roman at the Royal Rumble. It was the shocker of the year from that point. Jey put his heart into Sami and finally was able to trust him to no avail.

Sami chose his best friend over some guy who really never gave him a rightfully spot in his family.

As the weeks progressed, there always seemed to be a bit of miscommunication between Paul Heyman and The Usos. It always seems like Paul is that snake in the grass, slowly waiting for the right opportunity to catch his prey, which is ultimately telling Roman the opposite of what The Usos’s actually want to do.

Paul is always the culprit and he knows it. But, he knows that Roman will always listen to him more than his own blood.

Tension

The Bloodline has brought back something that’s been lost in WWE for quite some time and that’s the meaning of “tension”. The feeling of watching these wrestlers in the ring and feeling their hatred for each other.

Whether you cheer for The Blood or the good guy. You feel both of their remorse immediately. In the babyface’s eyes, these guys need to be stopped. They’ve toyed with WWE for far too long and they believe they’re the ones to stop them.

In the eyes of The Bloodline, they’re keeping order. The world revolves around them. There’s nothing bigger than Roman Reigns in the ring. Roman will get the job done in any way possible. Even if that means The Usos’ or Paul Heyman getting involved and stealing the win for Roman.

That sets off a bit of anger in fans because there’s maybe a few WWE fans who are tired of seeing Roman always on top. We get more invested here because now we think there has to be another guy who can defeat him. The Bloodline then will come out and brag about how our hero didn’t get the job done because he isn’t on Roman’s level.

Cody Rhodes is a firm example right now.

Chapters

The Bloodline for me has been separated by chapters.

Chapter 1 — The Beginning. where Roman came back and sided with Paul Heyman.

Chapter 2 — when The Usos’s came in and demanded Roman’s respect. They feuded for a moment before coming to terms and the official Bloodline was formed.

Chapter 3 — was world domination. The Bloodline members had to make sure that Roman Reigns was the ultimate dog in WWE. They had to do everything possible to make Roman win all the championships. Which happened throughout the time.

Chapter 4 — Sami Zayn. Sami came out of nowhere and felt the need to join the Bloodline because he knew he had something to offer for them. The Usos’s didn’t see it that way. They didn’t want an outsider in this family, let alone someone that wasn’t of blood.

Chapter 5 — Betrayal. Sami Zayn chose to leave for his best friend. This is where we are now. Once Sami left the group, there seems to be a light bulb shining on The Usos’s. They’re starting to see that Roman is all in for himself and uses them for his own gain. Jimmy is completely convinced by this, Jey is on the verge, but will soon realize his brother’s right.

New Chapter

That’s always room for new chapters to come out in broad daylight.

Right now, the new chapter being told is The Bloodline imploding. The Usos’s are seemingly out of the family. Roman is still confused by this. They cost Roman the opportunity to win the Tag Team Championship.

These coming chapters will be more thought provoking. They will leave us on the edge of our seats. Every new decision that Roman makes will have dire consequences to himself or to someone.

Paul Heyman could very well be in his final days as well. Maybe this whole time Roman has known that Paul has been trying to manipulate him into thinking otherwise.

Rikishi could also come into the mix and choose a side of The Bloodline.

This is all a way to keep this story compelling and make us tune in every Monday and Friday to see where the story will unfold.
