Royal Rumble 2022…A Toal Mess

The road to Wrestlemania has begun.

The Royal Rumble has come and gone and I feel like we were left with a bad taste in our mouths. The night started off great. Seth Rollins Vs Roman Reigns was better than I expected it to be.

The spots during the Championship match were superb. It had us on the edge of our seats. When we thought one person was going to win, that person would kick out of the pinfall and vice-versa.

After the first match…it seemed like WWE and the creative team struggled to to continue the show.

A lot of the matches felt like they were changed on the last minute and there was a bit of confusion backstage and who should win what.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match

The Women’s Royal Rumble match was good as it should’ve been.

Ronda Rousey made her comeback to the WWE. Although her winning the Royal Rumble is cool. I didn’t really feel excited about it. It was that “big star returns” moment and she “had” to win for her to sign back with the WWE.

There were a few surprised in the Rumble from the likes of Ivory coming back her “Right To Censor” character. Mighty Molly came back and got ambushed by Nikki A.S.H. Lita returned to the ring, although not a surprise, but it’s always great seeing her back.

Sadly, we didn’t get the comebacks that we thought we were going to get.

Paige was cleared to wrestle but didn’t show. Alexa Bliss didn’t make her in-ring return.

Bobby Lashley Vs Brock Lesnar

The match that we all waited for years.

This was the match that Bobby Lashley wanted to have. He came back to the WWE just for this moment.

Did it deliver?

That depends on you really.

The match itself was good for the most part. I think the hype of it all really clouded our minds on what the actual product was going to be.

The shocker of the night was Paul Heyman actually turning his back on Brock Lesnar and joining Roman Reign’s back.

I did not see that coming.

Roman caused Brock Lesnar the WWE Championship after hitting him with the belt.

Bobby Lashley once again is the WWE Championship and I’m okay with that. The man is a beast and as a champion we’re in for a treat again.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

For what is was…this match was just all over the place.

Kofi Kingston I think botched his own moment when he tried to clinch onto the barricade. His foot slipped on touched the floor.

Personally, I’m always looking forward to seeing how he would save himself from elimination. This year sadly, it didn’t go his way.

We got a few surprise entrances or entrances we knew were coming but still nice to see.

We got Shane McMahon coming back. Bad Bunny made a surprise appearance. Bad Bunny is one of those celebrity appearances that I love to see because you can tell just how much he loves the sport and how much he’s willing to give. He did a Canadian Destroyer on Riddle and executed it pretty damn well.

Undertaker was apparently in St. Louis and I was hopeful that he would come but he didn’t. But, I don’t blame him. He’s probably waiting for Wrestlemania.

As for the winner…Brock Lesnar won the match.

I mean we all know where this is going. It’s going to be Roman Reigns Vs Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. It’s no surprise. I’m just disappointed that it won’t be Title Vs Title. That would’ve been a great and the stakes would’ve been so high.

Wrestlemania Sign Caught Fire

There wasn’t much pyro during the night.

Just mediocre pyro above the ring in the structure they built. But that didn’t stop from a small fire happening.

After Ronda Rousey won the Royal Rumble Match. Pyro ignited on the Wrestlemania sign, which is common. But behind the sign that was above the stadium. It caught on fire and fans around the section of the sign were evacuated quickly.

Thankfully, they did put out the fire quickly and everyone returned to their seats.

Final Thoughts

This years Royal Rumble was downright disappointing.

The men’s Royal Rumble was just a mess and they failed to give us anticipation on who would eliminate who.

Just with Brock Lesnar entering at number 30, it ruined any sort of chance of a surprise winner.

The only matches that saved the night for me were the Women’s Royal Rumble and Seth Rollins Vs Roman Reigns

Even though the ending of Seth Vs Roman was dull and typical. The rest of the match was superb.
