Why can’t they get their dues?

With all the top dogs taking centerstage in WWE, and having title reigns that seem to be larger than life, there’s tend to be a lot of wrestlers who get overlooked and often forgotten until they’re seen on television.

Some are lucky enough to get seven minutes of screen time.

Yes, I’m talking about the mid-card and lower-mid-card wrestlers. The Rat pack that never seem to grow in the company. The ones who often are put in positions to just fill the show against their will.

Sure, there might be a handful of reasons why the some wrestlers never find the spotlight. They might be a bit sluggish in the ring, or maybe their promo abilities aren’t up to par, possibly the WWE officials just don’t see you as the “it” thing.

Lately, I’ve been looking at the mid-card wrestlers and often been wondering what if some of them were given the opportunity to actually show their craft and see where that can take them.

Most of them are criminally misused.

I’ve compiled a list here on who are some of the wrestlers of today in WWE who just are aren’t given the time of day.

There’s no specific order on this list.

Happy Corbin

Yes, you read that right. Happy Hogan is on this list for good reasons. I think he’s one of the most underrated superstars today. He’s actually pretty good at all the gimmicks that are thrown his way.

Whether it was Broke Corbin or now Happy Corbin. He gives his all and makes sure he gets a reaction from the crowd on a weekly basis.

He hasn’t been given that “character” that will make him memorable. Maybe this Happy Corbin will be that one who knows?

The way he’s been playing this Happy Hogan character has been quite the performance from him. He oozes the conceded edge he needs to make the character work. When he does his promos, you cannot help but to want to throw your drink at him.

I also believe that when it comes time to deliver his promos. He delivers them every single damn time. He’s strong with his words. He tends to try to make us relate to his opponents when they’re weak, which makes us feel weak and then we react, which is the point.

In the ring, he’s above average. He has his own unique technique. He’s finishing moves look devastating.

Happy Corbin definitely deserves a glimpse of the spotlight.

Jinder Mahal

People hated his WWE Championship run. Truth be told…it’d always say that it was just forced upon us and the company. I get where WWE was coming from, they were doing new business overseas in India and needed someone of that decent to represent them and they chose Jinder.

Nonetheless, Jinder as proven to be a force in the company. He’s always been a decent heel. He’s probably going to be a heel till the day he retires. It’s just so natural to him with his facial expressions.

His ring work is decent. He’s nowhere near as a outstanding wrestler, but I’m sure with the proper guidance and if he continues to own his craft, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned to be one of the best in the ring.

He has a great look. He’s strong. He has a slick smirk. He has a strong voice on the microphone.

Why not give him a proper championship reign?

Big E

To the surprise of many Big E to me hasn’t reached his full potential.

We know he was WWE Champion and we know his part of one of the most famous Tag Teams ever, The New Day. He has the entire world backing him up.

But for some reason, they’re just holding him back and it’s just incredible how they don’t see what they have. His WWE run is confusing to me. One minute he has every opportunity known to man and the next instant it’s just gone and he’s back to mid-card.

He’s a banger in the tag team division like I said. In singles competition, he’s made quite the name for himself. I love watching him wrestle. It’s so fluid and each move he does is carefully executed.

So, why isn’t he in the top 5?

Big E deserves another championship run and he deserves to hold the belt for longer than he did. He’s capable of delivering excellent matches on a regular basis, plus he’s one of the biggest babyfaces in the company.

Akira Tozawa

Another pick of the litter.

We all know him as the funny guy who chases the 24/7 belt every week, during some match that happens during the night. He has a romance storyline with Tamina and it’s just downright terrible.

To some peoples surprise, he’s actually a fierce competitor in the ring and a well respected techinican/kick-merchant.

WWE has seriously bit the bullet with him. They made him almost into a joke and they’re just not seeing where he comes from and how much of an impact he can do in the ring.

WWE give him the chance to showcase his real talent!

I hope one day they will realize what they have and decide to actually take him as a serious wrestler.

Fabian Aichner

Maybe this one is one that not many would recognize.

His former teammates Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser got called up to the main roster and are on Smackdown right now. Which I will say is great, Both men have been dominate on the blue brand.

It saddens me to see that Fabian was just left in the dust.

I like to compare Fabian to Cesaro. His pound-for-pound strength is unmatched by many. He’s comfortable in the ring by himself or with someone else. Not to mention, he’s quite the high-flyer when he’s given the chance. But, he’s almost extremely comfortable being a mat-wrestler.

One move that always impresses me from him is his transition from suplex to power-bomb when he’s in mid-air. It’s insane! if you have a chance check it out!

What’s the problem?

Well…Vince is the problem. He probably thinks Fabian is too hard to market to the masses because he’s not over 6 feet and English isn’t his first language, which in Vince’s mind makes him an afterthought.

Good news is that Fabian is looking to resign to NXT 2.0.

Auska

Yes her…

When she entered the WWE they immediately made her the face of the Women’s division. She had an undefeated streak until Charlotte Flair ended it at Wrestlemania 34.

From there, it was just a downward spiral.

Her promos are explosive and pretty fun in my opinion. She switches from English to her native tongue of Japan. She oozes out energy every time she comes out.

Lately tho, shes been very injury prone and it has taken a toll on her role in the company. That still shouldn’t be an excuse for WWE not to bring her back to where she belongs, on top of the world.

I encourage people to watch her matches outside of WWE/NXT to reassure you that she has whatever it takes to have the women’s division on her shoulders.

She should be in the same conversation as Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair.

Sami Zayn

Sami is a once in the lifetime-type of wrestler. WWE should be grateful to have someone like him and they aren’t taking advantage of that.

At Wrestlemania he had a match with Johnny Knoxville. In what should’ve been a boring gimmick match where we knew the outcome and see badly placed spots, it turns out to be one of the most entertaining parts of the night.

Sami to be honest somehow pulled a fast one on us and made us glue our eyes to the screen that night. He was able to showcase tons of emotions in less than 20 minutes. He made the spots seem bigger than they are.

I’m glad Sami got a gimmick change and is this outrage, in your face, full of shit heel character. It suits him well.

He’s arrogant, cocky, thinks the world’s out to get him type of guy. Everything blended nicely together to form this new Sami Zayn. I think his promo work is just downright incredible. He works the mic extremely well. He knows what to say and when to say it.

You almost sympathize with the man when he speaks. Which is a testament to how carefully he chooses his words.

He’s not per say to the best wrestler and not a main event guy, but his spirit is now felt with his now alliance with the Bloodline.

Hopefully with the Bloodline on his side, his star with shine brighter and we will get way more of him.
