Love Stories In WWE

Should they come back?

With all the TV drama that happens in WWE. From personal conflicts to ghost stories to your basic “who done it” stories, there’s always been one storyline that for some reason has always caught my attention.

Love stories.

The way WWE did these storylines always made me wonder what was real and what wasn’t. We all know that when two co-workers work together for months, often of times someone is bound to catch real-life feelings for their partner.

They added that TV drama of where you meet this girl/guy and something clicks. Everything’s good for a time and then something sets one of them off and it’s a downward spiral to neverland. The heart breaks start to rise and the relationship maybe turned physical (on the girl side).

Should these storylines come back?

Yes?

No?

Might be thinking about it? Maybe there’s just not enough chemistry within the roster? Maybe it’s just stupid now?

First, let’s take a look at some of the most famous ones.

Kane & Lita

Kane was suppose to be this monster of destruction. Someone that no one can hold back. A demonic monster that wants to only inflict the most pain on someone, and then laugh about it.

Kane for a moment became someone else. He became a compassionate man. We saw that this big-red machine had a heart and had feelings for a woman.

This storyline had a creepy tale to it (thankfully).

We had multiple sub-plots in this storyline. From getting kidnapped and “forced” to get pregnant. WWE did throw everything on the table to try and make Kane still look like a menace to society.

This love story took an…ominous turn when they brought in Gene Snitsky, who pretty much became Kane’s kryptonite. Gene caused Lita to have a miscarriage, and then proceeded punting a baby doll to the audience, which I think was a moment where WWE might’ve taken things too far.

Overall, I think this short lived storyline did show us that Kane had more range in what he can do. He can be the masked devil. He can be the psychotic monster in chains, and he can be that loving “father”.

Mark Henry & Mae Young

This is one that you either loved it or hated it. I absolutely loved it because I never took it soo serious. I mean…you really couldn’t take it serious with how insane this storyline went.

Mark Henry was “Sexual chocolate” at the time and ended up falling for a 70-year-old woman, inside a hotel, on a bed…and then it lead to some of the most funniest and awkward moments ever.

Mae Young became pregnant and gave to…you will never guess it…A FOOT.

I think this pretty much summed up just how ridiculous the Attitude Era could really be.

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

Ah, the famous McMahon love story. The one that undoubtedly caused real-life pain for someone else and lead them to a destructive life.

Wrestling and romance always go hand-in-hand when there’s real life love involved. they were indeed in love in real life, so when they went out together in the ring, the chemistry was just pure.

Stephanie was suppose to marry Test until Triple H intervened and showed us a video of him marrying a drunking Stephanie in a Las Vegas drive-thru chapel.

The pair REALLY fell in love and dominated WWE ever since.

Edge & Lita

Lita sure loved to be the damsel in distress. She’s been involved in TWO of the most famous love storylines. But, this one takes the cake.

I watched this love story unfold when I was younger. Boy, did I hate them so much. They were so into themselves. They didn’t care about anybody but themselves. They both oozed out sex. They were the evil couple you wanted to just slap in the face.

This was why they worked so well.

From their famous live-sex celebration to their real-life issues with Matt Hardy. This storyline had everything that an Emmy winning show would have. The drama was out of this world.

Famously, Edge and Matt Hardy and Lita were in a love triangle. Which caused everyone to just go on a rampage and actually throw real punches and say fucked up shit about each other on live television.

Where I’m basically getting at is that there could be a bunch of love stories going on right now. But most of them won’t work because they might feel too forced on us. they won’t feel real.

There’s only a few people in the WWE right now that might be able to pull this off.

Should they come back?

If it serves a purpose to further both characters, then yes, of course.

I do miss this kind of drama from WWE. When they did it right, they nailed it. It’s something I think about once a week. I ask myself “what if this guy was to be with this woman and then all hell breaks loose”.

Maybe one day we will see the resurgence.
