Greatest Wrestlemania Macthes!

The time of the year that I always look forward too.

It’s the grandest stage of them all. Where immortality is earned. The stage where legends are made. This is the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment.

With decades of Wrestlemania moments. From celebrities getting involved to the moments we talk about today, it’s the only Pay-Per-View that I get hyped about the most.

The road to Wrestlemania is paved with good intentions.

The drama is always fired up to eleven. The world starts tweeting about it. The celebrities start coming out and having their moment. The hall of fame class is announced.

With that being said, there’s been a ton of amazing matches.

Matches that have lived within our hearts for years or decades. We’ve been able to see the careers of the WWE superstars cross to the next level.

It’s with heavy heart that I have to narrow it down to just a few of my favorites here. If it was up to me…I’d make this list a lot longer.

The Rock Vs Hulk Hogan — Wrestlemania 18–2002

This was the real main event of the night. Forget about Chris Jericho Vs Triple H for the WWE championship. this match stole the entire show.

These were two of the greatest trailblazers of our time squaring off in the middle of the ring.

You felt the electricity through your tv in this one.

The Toronto crowd ate it all up. The spots fueled the match more and more. The intensity became shown as the match went on. The false-finishes were even better. Just when you thought that match was over, someones arm raised up before the three-count. This definitely made us stand and shout with excitement.

The Rock and Hulk Hogan are masters of manipulation. They had the crowd in the palm of their hands. They knew what would make the crowd erupt in cheers and boo’s.

The baton was passed to The Rock that night. In a sheer act of respect, Hulk Hogan extended his hand to The Rock after the match. Both men stood in the middle of the ring with the upmost respect for one another.

Money In The Bank Ladder Match — Wrestlemania 21–2005

This was a match devised by the brilliant brain of Chris Jericho in which the winner would receive a guaranteed championship opportunity at any point over the next year.

This was the first of its kind.

The match included the likes of Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Edge, Christian, Kane, and Shelton Benjamin. All these men had their Wrestlemania moment here. All of them took some sort of high-risk jump off a ladder.

No knew what to expect of this match. It was something new per-say. Even though in context it was just a ladder match with a new gimmick.

Edge won the first ever Money In The Bank match.

Mick Foley Vs Edge — Wrestlemania 22–2006

Believe it or not, This is one of my favorite matches of all time.

This is a sleeper one. No one really talks about this match unless it is mentioned. It hasn’t gotten the spotlight it so deserves.

This was a match where both men didn’t have anything to prove to us fans. This was about who was more hardcore. This was all about bragging rights. Edge was obsessed with showing Mick Foley that he was just as hardcore as he was.

This was also the era where Edge was the biggest heel in the business. He lived and breathed it. Possibly the best heel they had in a LONG time in that era, next to Triple H.

Edge just oozed hatred.

Edge took a nasty beating. He took a suplex on thumbtacks and a barbed-wire bat to the face.

In the end, Lita ended up lighting a table on fire outside the ring. Edge speared Mick Foley through the ropes and both men landed on the flaming table. Creating a real Wrestlemania moment.

The amount of blood Edge lost that night is also astonishing.

The Undertaker Vs Triple H — Wrestlemania 28–2021

The End of an era

Triple H nearly defeated The Undertaker in this match. He might’ve lost the actua; match, but he left with his head held high in the middle of the Miami crowd cheering his name. The crowd paid their respect to all men in the match.

Not to mention, Shawn Michaels was the special referee.

The match, an epic play that took FOUR YEARS to build up. Yes, it took four years to get to this match. The compelling story these two men told was just perfection. During those four years, they did fight off and on.

Undertaker ending Shawn’s career at Wrestlemania is really what sparked the light in this feud.

Shawn was torn in this match. He was calling it right down the middle, but his friendship with Triple-H got in the way numerous of times during the match.

The pop that the WWE universe had when Shawn sweet-chin music Undertaker was intense. I know, because I was there. I was one of those fans thinking that Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak was over. Thankfully it wasn’t.

Chairs were used like nothing. Tables were broken. Bodies were broken. Shawn almost caused Triple H the match on numerous occassions.

All three men stood at the entrance of Wreslemania, looking out at the sea of people.

Triple H Vs Big Show Vs The Rock Vs Mick Foley — Wrestlemania 16–2000

A McMahon in every corner.

That was the tagline for the Pay-Per-View

Through the months leading up to this match, all the McMahon’s decided to team up with one the wrestlers.

Vince was with The Rock, Shane was with The Show, Linda was with Mick Foley, and Stephenie was with Triple H.

This match was suppose to be Mick Foley’s final match. He was the second one to get eliminated by Triple H after a pedigree on a chair. Triple H ended Foley’s dream of winning the WWE championship at Wrestlemania.

Mick Foley got the last laugh.

Mick Foley returned to the ring and ended up hitting Triple H in the face with a barbed-wire bat for old times sake.

The twist of the match was something that no one saw coming in that moment. Vince whacked The Rock with a chair, causing The Rock the match.

Triple H was victorious.

The Hardy Boyz Vs The Dudley Boyz Vs Edge & Christian — Wrestlemania 17 — TLC 2–2001

For the second year in a row, these young tag teams battled for the tag team championship in a high-risk match.

A year prior to this match at Wrestlemania 16, they did battle in the first ever Triangle Ladder match.

They upped the violence in this one. The risk and creativity was aew-inspiring. They integrated some interference in this match from Rhyno, Spike Dudley, and Lita. They all took serious bumps in this one.

Jeff Hardy took a massive spear from Edge while hanging onto the tag team belts. Jeff fell roughly 20 feet from the air to the ring. This moment remains an enduring moment in Wrestlemania.

Jeff Hardy also did a Swanton Bomb off a 20 foot ladder to Rhyno.

Matt Hardy and Bubba Ray Dudley got pushed down from the ring all the way to the outside where FOUR stacked tables were waiting for them. The sound their bodies made when they crashed was deafeaning.

Bret Hart Vs Owen Hart — Wrestlemania 10–1994

Brother Vs Brother

This was all about jealousy. Owen Hart being the younger brother of Bret was jealous that bret was getting the spotlight. Owen kept saying that he was just as good as his older brother.

Crazy enough, this was the opening match of the night.

Owen was hellbent to prove that he was just as good as his brother and he proved it that night.

These two were technical wrestling masterminds.

It was a shocking upset when Owen Hart pinned Bret. The arena exploded in celebration for the monumental victory.

No one say that victory coming.

After this, Owen Hart actually starting getting more and more programming.

Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels — Wrestlemania 25–2009

Two of the greatest veterans, gunslingers from the bygone era, met in the middle of the ring with expectations were through the roof.

What they delivered was an instant classic that had fans proclaiming it to be the greatest match of all time.

the chemistry between these two men is just untouchable. They’ve worked together for decades and always proved to be the top dogs.

Undertaker flew over the top rope and crashed onto a camera man.

There were tons of false-finishes that just made the crowd literally scream and react in ways that weren’t normal. There wasn’t one person sitting down once the match was in full swing.

Shawn couldn’t beat Undertaker that night.

Both men walked away knowing they just put everything on the line and created something that will be talked about for ages to come.

Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels — Wrestlemania 12–1996

for 60-minutes, Bret and Shawn waged war for the WWE championship in the first ever Iron Man Match.

The match itself was for the company’s soul to an extent.

Brat Hart was the seasoned wrestler who took his line of work very serious. In the other corner, you had a charismatic rookie, who was viewed as the future of the business, Shawn Michaels.

The grueling match took a toll on both men. As wrestling for a straight hour isn’t the easiest thing in the world. The more the match went on, the more alive the crowd became, we all recognized that just ONE pinfall could determine the winner.

Time ran out when Bret locked in the Sharpshooter on Shawn. So it was considered a draw.

WWE President Gorilla Monsoon demanded that the match would go on under sudden-death rules. There must be a winner.

Shawn delivered two doses of Sweet-Chin music and finally was able to live his childhood dream of becoming WWE Champion.

As Vince said “The boyhood dream has come true for Shawn Michaels”.

This was the start of Shawn’s career for me. This was when he became the face of the company. He proved to us that he was the future. The company now laid on his back and he went along for the ride.
