Elimination Chamber 2023 Review
Best crowd ever!
It’s the last Premium Live Event before Wrestlemania. The whole event circled around Roman Reigns Vs Sami Zayn. All eyes were on Montreal’s own Sami Zayn. He turned on The Bloodline and Roman was out to prove that he MADE Sami Zayn into the man he is right now.
Firstly, The crowd in Montreal throughout the entire night was just unbelievably alive. They were very vocal in every match. It has been one of the best crowds I’ve ever seen. I felt the energy through the T.V screen.
Women’s Elimination Chamber Match
The winner of the match will face Bianca Belair at Wrestlemania.
Liv Morgan and Natalya started off the match which decent and simple moves to get us going until every women started entering the match.
Natalya looked to be the favorite to win the match as it was in her native land of Canada. She put on the best performance she could do. Carmella was also quite the show-women during the match. She toyed with the wrestlers and use of the chamber cells to try to escape the wrath of her opponents.
Raquel Rodriguez had an amazing spot in the match where she drove Nikki Cross through the cell glass.
It came down to Carmella and Asuka. Asuka gave Carmella the Asuka-Lock and won the match. She punched her ticket to Wrestlemania.
Bobby Lashley Vs Brock Lesnar
This match got to the point real quick. Both big men knew the challenge they had in front of them and they wasted no time in doing their finishers.
Brock did the F5 on Lashley quickly, while Lashley speared Brock and seemingly looked like he won the match but Brock wasn’t done yet.
Brock did a low-blow to Lashley which resulted in a DQ. Bobby Lashley gets the win.
The match felt like it lasted well under 10 minutes and was mostly a spectacle of finishing moves. Just when you thought things were over, Brock decided to give the referee a F5 and then Brock gave Lashley an F5 to the announce table.
Judgement Day Vs Beth Phoenix & Edge
This has been an interesting storyline to say the least. The back and forth has given fans a chance to both sides take the upper hand countless of times.
Rhea was ready to show Beth that there’s only one women that can dominate in the ring. Beth surely gave Rhea a run for her money. Beth put up more of a fight than Rhea expected. Beth was seeking revenge from Rhea giving her a Con-Chair-toe months ago.
Dominik kept interfering during the match until Edge finally took him out.
Beth disposed of Rhea Ripley outside the ring.
Edge pinned Fin Balor for the win.
All roads are leading to the rumored final match in this story, which will be a Hell In The Cell match at Wrestlemania.
Men’s Elimination Chamber Match for U.S Championship
All six-men in this match looked like superstars. Given the fact that most of them are NXT veterans. Triple H knew how to use them and where their strengths lied.
Seth Rollins and Johnny Gargano started the match off. Seth played around with Johnny, almost felt like he wasn’t taking him serious, which was the beauty of it being that Seth thinks he’s the greatest wrestler in the match.
It took THREE wrestlers to eliminate Bronson Reed. Bronson wasn’t really that important in the match, we all expected him to be eliminated early in the match, but we were able to see the power he has. He’s still not quite over with the fans, but that can change soon.
Montez Ford probably had the best spots in the match. He used his athleticism to flip around the chamber. He climbed to the top of the chamber and dropped down to all his opponents. The crowd reacted with an “holy shit” chant and I agreed.
Montez got eliminated and looked like he was injured. The chamber door opened and in came Logan Paul to the shock of many, and did a Curb-Stomp on Seth rollin which costed him the match.
Now we definitely know that at Wrestlemania it will be Logan Paul Vs Seth Rollins in which should a pretty good match with the progress Logan has been making in his in-ring abilities.
Austin Theory retained his United states Championship.
Roman Reigns Vs Sami Zayn
It’s main event time!
Like I mentioned before this storyline is what’s holding WWE together right now. Long-term storytelling has been a dead space in the company for a while now. So, with how they’ve been able to come up with twist and turns in this one, it’s interesting to see the next chapter of this on-going saga.
Roman came in with the mindset that he made Sami. He brought something out of Sami that Sami himself couldn’t pull out. Roman was cocky coming down to the ring. You felt his confidence and didn’t care that the ENTIRE arena was against him.
When Sami Zayn came out…my god…the crowd erupted into a frenzy. Their hometown boy made it back home to main event a PPV. Sami was ready to go and couldn’t wait for the match to start.
The first quarter of the match was a slow-burn, which I knew from the start it would be. They build and build the match to the point that Roman got Sami’s wife involved and spoke crap to her while Sami looked in distraught.
The false-finishes started coming in. Sami gave Roman every finisher he had and surprises he could mustard up, but Roman overcame every move.
Roman speared and superman punched Sami countless of times and Sami kicked out. Roman sold every single time Sami kicked out. Roman couldn’t put this man down. Sami had too much heart to stay down. The look on Roman’s face said it all.
TWO referees got knocked out. Jimmy Uso broke Roman’s “word” in not attending the event and started to beat on Sami. Paul Heyman brought in a steel chair and gave it to Roman. Just as Roman turns around we see a reluctant Jey Uso enter the ring.
Jey Uso actually got quite the pop. Roman talked his smack and ordered for Jey to use the chair on Sami. We saw that Jey didn’t wanna do it. He’s still torn between Sami Zayn or The Bloodline.
Sami ended up spearing Jey Uso by accident.
Roman speared Sami Zayn for the win and he retains his championships.
Jimmy and Roman start a beat down on Sami after the match. Kevin Owens comes out and defends Sami Zayn.
Sami and Kevin connected eyes and there was a moment where they didn’t have to speak. Their body language said it all. Something has to be done to end The Bloodline. This would set up them being a tag team again and going up against The Uso’s for the Tag Team Championships.
Final Thoughts
Elimination Chamber was a great PPV. The show kept rolling, there wasn’t too many slow moments. So far, Elimination Chamber is the best WWE PPV of 2023.
I still say if Sami would’ve won it would’ve been the perfect feel-good moment for WWE. The roof would’ve exploded.
