Bray Wyatt’s Return
Could WWE get it right this time?
Bray Wyatt is one of the most creative minds in wrestling today. He has an act for creating ominous, supernatural, god-like presence characters. From his work in the Wyatt Family, to what I called “Cartoon” Bray Wyatt when he did the Firefly Funhouse segments, to the beloved The Fiend.
With all the creative juices running through his mind, it wasn’t a surprise that he bumped head with Vince McMahon and his creative team last year.
The Fiend character was actually something that should’ve been as protected as it was. Doing small appearances here and there. Doing gloomy backstage segments to amp up his hype. I agreed that he shouldn’t be on Raw on a weekly basis.
Sadly and to the shock of many, WWE released Bray Wyatt last year.
Ultimately, Triple H saw the mistake that was done and finally brought back Bray Wyatt at Extreme Rules. He knows the value that he’ll bring to WWE, not to mention the ticket sells that it will make.
The vignettes that they were showing for a few months with the White Rabbit thing, was perfect. even though we all knew that it was him, it was still fun watching the show and just waiting for the QR code to pop up or to see some sort of easter egg in the background.
They really nailed those vignettes. To me Triple H won promotor of the year with just this.
Now, we don’t really know if we’re getting “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt or a whole new character. But, this is their chance to show the full potential of Bray’s creative mind.
Now it’s the time for them to get it right.
Make His Motives Clear
Bray is underrated when it comes to doing promos. He oozes out stardom when he talks whether it is to the camera or directly to the fans. He commits to his character 100%.
His promos before often of times had some rhymes and myths that lead to nothing at all. It was all for show and no action. It was like they just forced him to put it into his monologue just for the sake of saying something that was written for him.
That needs to die.
The Fiend or the “new” Bray Wyatt shouldn’t care about winning championships or main eventing a Pay-Per-View, no. He should care about bringing justice into a madman ecosystem. He should be thinking about ways of bringing his own justice into those who make the wrestlers lives a living hell.
The key thing here is to bring some rational explanation to what he’s come to do. To say what he will do and not to say when he will do it.
Horror characters are hard to pull off, but I have all the confidence in the world that he will bring in a breathe of fresh air into this new era.
Who know maybe we will see new types of matches he creates for himself. Which is always exciting to see. Just no Inferno Matches (haha).
He doesn’t have to be this supernatural god, at least for now. They can slowly grow him into becoming one, and from their all hell breaks loose.
Bray Wyatt’s Internal Impact
It’s easy for somebody to make an impact in WWE for the first month or so and then slow get pushed down the ladder to becoming a mid-card wrestler. The hype dies faster than the debut.
WWE should find ways to make him an attraction. Schedule him on the program with Twitter or Instagram or even on Peacock on their network.
Maybe you’re watching something that’s WWE related and out of nowhere you get a random vignette of Bray speaking in tongues or just pointing at you, making it seem like he’s watching your every move.
Bray should be able to impact his opponent someway even if Bray loses or wins the match. A sort of black magic spell that he casts out. From there, his opponent would just experience bad luck or “bad booking” and he will soon realize that he has a hex on him and the only to get it off of him would be to face Bray Wyatt one way or another.
Bray could feed on their insecurities.
This whole thing doesn’t have to be supernatural. They can find ways to keep it grounded for a bit. Other times they could bring in that supernatural element to further the storyline. Kinda like Undertaker and Kane. They had their fair share of supernatural battles, from fire and lighting, to keeping the storyline grounded with Paul Bearer telling Undertaker that Kane’s alive, he’s brother’s alive.
FireFly Funhouse Or Something else?
The Firefly Funhouse was something I looked forwarded to on Raw. In the middle of the show they would run the segment and we will get that horror/comedy aspect that I love.
Could they bring it back? Sure.
Will they change it? It depends if it needs to be changed.
From what I saw in his return, it seems that this new Bray Wyatt is more than just a funhouse type of guy. This Bray means business and he’s already preying upon someone.
It doesn’t seem right to put this serious Bray into a segment with puppets and colorful background, no. This Bray needs a new stage. Something creepy and odd. Maybe doll heads hanging from the ceiling, a table full of pictures of superstars and he spins a wheel to see who’s next. Maybe even a black crystal ball. Just something to fill the void, you know.
Maybe they could keep cutting random vignettes during the show as a sort of sign that he’s watching everyone. Maybe he could appear in the ring at random times and something from his “new” funhouse is right next to him.
Maybe they don’t even need to do a funhouse.
Bray could even do his segments in a cemetery. He’s searching for lost souls . People that are lost and he must find them to build an army of followers. As we know his puppets are life-like now.
New Wyatt Family?
With his puppets now coming to life. It seems only fitting that there’s something behind that right? Of course!
The puppets could roam the backstage and terrorize the superstars left and right. Once they’re “strong enough” they will transform into humans. Hell, they could even do a sacrifice segment where they take random people and the puppets “souls” get transferred to the human bodies.
As we all know, there’s a few NXT call ups happening in WWE and this would be the perfect way of introducing these new wrestlers to the masses. From Joe Gacy, to a supposably returning Bo Dallas. They could make this new Wyatt Family a faction not to be messed with.
