Best WWE Rivalries Ever
There has been tons of and tons of storylines and feuds over the years that has grab us by the throat and made us cry or laugh or feel some type of way. There’s also been many, beyond many, rivalries that have come and gone and we forget about.
The ones that I’m posting here have been the ones that have been able to struck a cord in me. It made feel for the wrestlers. Whether I hated one person or cheered for the other. Both wrestler’s did their jobs to make me feel something .
Often of times, the rivalries felt all too real and I saw myself in them.
Hulk Hogan Vs Randy “Macho Man” Savage
Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage had one of the most explosive rivalries of the 80’s. The story they told is something greater than anything WWE is putting out nowadays.
This rivalry was solemnly based on Randy Savage’s jealousy.
Hulk Hogan was the ultimate babyface in this era, while Randy Savage was the ultimate bad guy. Randy soon turned babyface when his valet Miss Elizabeth sought out for the help of Hulk Hogan when Randy Savage was down and out. Thus, The Mega-Powers were born.
The Mega-Powers ripped through the competition like it was nothing. Both men went on to win the tag team titles numerous times. They were a match made in heaven. But soon, Randy Savage started to think that Hulk and Elizabeth were having an affair and it started to blind him. It truly started to effect Randy in the ring. The Mega-Powers started to lose almost every match, and it seemed like Randy didn’t even care at this point. He kept trying to get Elizabeth away from Hulk Hogan.
This whole ordeal happened because of one person, and that person was Miss Elizabeth. Even though it wasn’t her fault, she tended to stir the pot at times to make Randy explode on Hulk. Hulk tried his best to tell Randy that he is delusional, but only made things worse.
Before our eyes, Randy and Hulk battled in the main events in sold out shows. Everyone wanted to see what would happen next. Were they going to see eye-to-eye finally? Were they going to rip each other apart? Was Miss Elizabeth going to chose a side? No one knew.
Randy Savage NEEDED to beat Hulk Hogan. He had something to prove.
Hulk Hogan ended up beating Randy Savage at Wrestlemania 5 to become the world champion again. Ending their long-rated feud in the process.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs Bret Hart
This was the time where Stone Cold was a nobody to be honest. He kept trying to find a new gimmick that would fit him, but nothing really stuck. He wasn’t the foul mouth, beer drinking, crazy S.O.B that we knew and loved. He simply called The Ringmaster. A gimmick that only took him so far.
Stone cold won the King Of The Ring 1996 only because Triple H was getting punished for the infamous “Curtain Call” incident.
Two things changed Stone Cold that night. One, he came up with his famous “3:16” catchphrase, and two…Bret Hart came to his attention.
Of course everyone talks about Austin Vs Triple H or Austin Vs McMahon or Austin VS The Rock…but none of those feuds would’ve started without the help of this one.
Bret Hart really did push Stone cold to the limit. I would say he even tried his best to try to get Stone Cold as over as possible. Something I feel like Bret Hart rarely did because we all know he had a HUGE ego at the time. But, he did complete his mission.
Bret Hart and Stone Cold had their final match at Wrestlemania 13, where Stone Cold bleed out while being in Bret Hart’s Sharpshooter. Stone Cold might have lost the match, but he walked out as a star thanks to Bret Hart.

Edge & Christian Vs The Hardy Boyz Vs The Dudley Boyz
Where can I start with these teams? What didn’t they do? What didn’t they say? These three teams are what REAL tag team wrestling is about. They did whatever it took to put on a great show. Even putting their bodies on the line.
No doubt, the three of them were the best tag teams in the Attitude Era.
All of them were young, hungry, and in desperate need to show the world what they are capable of.
Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz fired the first shot. They had a Ladder Match at No Mercy 1999. They did what they set out to do. They put on one hell of a show. I mean it was magical. The crowd didn’t know what they were in for. In the end, the crowd praised these youngsters with a standing ovation.
After that, it was a free-for-all. They did battles in TLC matches, Steel Cage matches, they stole the show in TWO Wrestlemania’s.
Their most notable match was at Wrestlemania 17 where they did battle in a TLC 2 match. God…the spots in that match are just breathtaking.

Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels
Probably one of the greatest rivalries known to men. This was a very special one. Both men just knew each other so well. Once they were in the ring…you can bet that you’re going to get your moneys worth.
Their first encounter happened at Summerslam 1997 where Shawn ended up hitting Undertaker with a chair. Costing Undertaker the match and his WWE title to change hands to Bret Hart.
From there, Undertaker and Shawn did battle in the first ever Hell In A Cell match at Badd Blood 1997. This is probably the BEST debut of a match ever. No one knew what to expect. It was a monster of a steel structure that surrounded the ring.
Now, through the years they did wrestle more and more but it’s their Wrestlemania 25 match that truly made their time together so memorable. The match was just perfect. This was a true Wrestlemania main event. The stakes were stacked up on both men. Both needed to win. Undertaker needed to keep his streak alive. Not to. mention the spot where Undertaker dived over the top rope and landed on top of a camera. Undertaker ended up coming on top after a slew of Tombstone pildrivers.
Undertaker and Shawn had a rematch the following year at Wrestlemania 26 and this time Undertaker wanted Shawn’s career. So, it was The Streak Vs career match. Again, they headlined Wrestlemania and they both brought their A game. It was another marvelous match.
Undertaker ended up winning again. Thus, Shawn Michaels had to retire. Probably one of the saddest Wrestlemania endings ever.

Triple H Vs The Rock
Triple H had many great rivalries throughout his caeer. From the likes of Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels, etc. When it came down to going against The Rock, he didn’t joke around. He made it a priority to end The Rock.
They had an insane Iron Man match at Judgement Day 2000 and had an even better match years prior to Judgement Day at Summerslam 1998 where they competed in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs Vince McMahon
This was something from thr wrestling gods. Their feud wasn’t ring-focused, no. It went beyond that. This was a simple feud. The employee revolts against the employer. Stone Cold made Vince’s life a living hell for years.
They didn’t even wrestle until TWO years of just destroying each other backstage or on the mic.
This was a perfect time for them to be doing this. This was something that no other promotion was doing. This is what made WWE destroy WCW in the ratings. Stone Cold and Vince just stood out from everything happening.
Stone Cold beat Vince’s ass in and out of the ring. He poured cement on Vince’s $60,000 Corvette. He aimed a toy gun to Vince’s head, making him think his life was going to end. There tons of moments I can list here but that would be so much to read.
Not to mention the fans erupted when both men were in the ring or a segment came on. We always wanted to see what craziness was about to fold.

Undertaker Vs Kane
Brother vs brother. They created one of the most brutal rivalries in WWE history. When they squared off in the ring they showed no mercy.
This is one of the main reasons to watch Raw Is War in the late 90's.
They had a pretty good match at Wrestlemania 14, which was Kane’s first match ever. It took Undertaker THREE Tombstones to finally beat Kane. Before that, Kane drove Undertake through the announcers table.
They had an Inferno Match at Unforgiven 1998. The ring would be lit on fire with the two men battling in it. It was a smart concept at the time. I watched it and I was kinda in awe how they even pulled that off. It was a pretty dangerous match if they didn’t know what to do.
They feuded for decades, sometimes even not wrestling each other for some years, but some how they kept bumping into each other.
After a long hiatus Undertaker made his come back at Wrestlemania 20 in 2004. He fought his brother again and was victorious.
They did after that, end up fighting for the world title on numerous occasions.

Shawn Michaels Vs Bret Hart
In the 90’s, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were on top of the world. They were the face of professional wrestling, and the face of WWE. Both were amongst the best performers of their time. They both also had one of the biggest egos of that time.
Both men never wanted to lose matches and they even demanded not to lose.
Their rivalry became more than just fiction. It became reality and very personal. They despised each other. Often of times they needed to be kept away from each other backstage and they had to make sure that their locker rooms were completely separated. Shawn made a remark on LIVE TV stating “Bret Hart has ad Sunny days”. It was a shot thrown to Bret about an affair he was having with then WWE valet Sunny. You could just see Bret’s face just turn to stone.
Bret Hart went on to say that Shawn is a nobody. He doesn’t know what to do in the ring. The only reason he is famous is because of his out of ring antics backstage. He actually even said on live tv that Shawn’s in the back popping pills and drinking some tequila before coming to the ring.
This all culminated on the night of 1997 at the Survivor Series PPV. This was the famous Montreal screwjob, where Vince McMahon signaled to ring the bell when Shawn had Bret in a sharpshooter. Bret felt betrayed. His face said it all. Bret SPAT on Vince’s face and started to destroy the entire ringside.
The famous part was the fact that was Shawn in on it or not? Shawn has said for many years that he didn’t know that was going to happen. Bret’s hatred for Shawn erupted that night and led to many years of just hating him more. I say that Shawn did know what was going on and he just played it off.
This is probably one of the most personal rivalries ever.

The Rock Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
Without a doubt, the rivalry between these two men has been the milestone for WWE. You cannot put two people in such a perfect position. The Rock with his electrifying charisma and Stone Cold with his bad to the bone attitude
This was the golden age for WWE. For me, there was no good guy versus bad guy here. It was to decide who was your favorite. I was always on the verge of going for Stone Cold but then The Rock would just counter my decision and I’d go on his side. The back and forth is what fans loved.
This was full of passion, fun, drama, something that will never be duplicated again.
Their final match at Wrestlemania 19 was an emotional one. Being that it was Stone Cold’s final match and The Rock telling Stone Cold “I love you” after the match in the ring.
Will their every be another two wrestlers that will be showstoppers like these? HELL NO.
