Best Matches of 2021

2021 has been one hell of a rollercoaster for the WWE.

There’s been highs and extreme lows.

But, surprisingly enough, with everything that has happened. They have given us some of the best matches in a long time.

Here is my list of the top 5 matches of the year.

5. Becky Lynch Vs Charlotte Flair — Survivor Series — Champion Vs Champion

Becky and Charlotte are the women WWE calls up to put on one hell of a show.

These two give it their all once they step foot in the square circle.

Becky Lynch recently returned from paternity leave. She hasn’t missed a beat. She’s still 100% the badass she was. She came back with one goal and that is to be the best.

The Queen and The Man didn’t phone it in here. When they did battle, they REALLY did battle. The contest was back and forth. They know each other so well that they could easily reverse each others moves without hestiate.

It was obvious that we were in for a treat.

Becky and Charlotte continue to prove why they’re the top women in WWE.

4. Roman Reigns Vs Cesaro — Wrestlemania Backlash — Universal Championship Match

Cesaro is probably the biggest “What if” wrestlers today. He tends to get random pushes throughout his career that takes him to the top and just randomly falls apart. I’ve never understoof why they do this to him.

He’s a great wrestler.

They took a chance on him this year when they decided to put him up against “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns.

This was an highly anticipated match for me. I’m a big Cesaro fan and seeing him in the main event was amazing. I also wanted to see if Cesaro could “hang” with the big dogs. I knew he could.

He proved that night that he’s a force to be reckoned with. He seriously gave Roman a run for his money. He kept the big man down for some time during the match.

This match was the perfect blend of passion, power, suspense, technique. It was a wrestling clinic.

Sure, Roman Reigns ended up winning the match…but the real winner was Cesaro. I know the backstage people were looking at him in amazement.

He proved the naysayers wrong that night.

3. Sasha Banks Vs Bianca Belair — Wrestlemania 37 — Smackdown Women’s Championship

It was emotional from the start. Bianca Belair almost couldn’t hold back her tears. She was extremely grateful for the opportunity she was given. You could just feel how much this match meant to her.

As soon as the bell sounded, both women locked hands and took us on one hell of a ride. There were numerous of false finishes that had me on my feet and my jaw dropped on some of the spots they did.

Both women also proved that they are technical wrestlers if they wanted to be.

Not to mention that this was the SECOND TIME that a Women’s Championship match was the main even of Wrestlemania.

2. Roman Reigns Vs Daniel Bryan Vs Edge — Wrestlemania 37 — Universal Championship

Wrestlemania was coming to an end.

This is how its done. You want to go out with a bang and they certainly did.

The three of them took it to the limit and took us to the limit with them. They got us on our feet and started to cheer for all three men.

I know I was super indecisive during the match. One minute I was cheering for this person and the next for the other person. I was just an awe on how good the match was.

The match from start to finish was superb. The spots were on point. It had great false finishes that made me almost jump up thinking the person won. This was a crowd pleaser.

All three men had several chances to win the belt but ultimately Roman Reigns ended up retaining his belt and I wasn’t even mad.

He gets a lot of shit today, but you can’t deny the fact that there’s a reason why he’s on top of the world now.

1. Edge Vs Seth Rollins — Hell In A Cell — Crown Jewels

All good things must come to an end.

This rivalry was one of the best of 2021…quite frantically probably one of the best feuds in the last ten years.

Edge and Seth Rollins are both decorated wresters no doubt. One’s a Hall Of Famer and the other a future Hall Of Famer. Both know how to push buttons. Both know how to play mind games. Both know how to deliver incredible promos.

Putting them together was one of the best choices.

They knocked it out of the park.

It’s no surprise this landed as my number 1. This is probably number 1 on most lists.

They didn’t even use much of the cell here to prove that they could be violent and brutal.

There were tables, ladders, chairs, a steel pipe.

Edge won the match.

I think this was actually one of the best Hell In A Cell matches. It could be top 5 depending on who you talk too. I couldn’t complain about the match. They surpassed my expectations.

They proved to us that with just their abilities and creativeness they could push boundaries without having to go off the rail and not be “PG”.
